Use of occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS) based on standards like ANSI/ASSP Z10.0 is on the rise. For many organizations, an OHSMS creates a road map for identifying work-related hazards, eliminating workplace risks and continually improving performance. Amy Timmerman, M.S., CSP, CHES, is president of AT Safety, a consulting firm that specializes in management systems. She has held safety leadership positions in global companies like GE, Siemens and Stryker. Timmerman is chair of the ANSI/ASSP Z10 Committee and a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO Project Committee 283 that publishes ISO 45001, the international standard on occupational health and safety management systems. She teaches in the occupational safety and health degree program at Illinois State University and is a recognized expert in management systems, risk assessments, incident investigation and regulatory compliance.

Joe Wolfsberger, M.S., CSP, CIH, has more than 30 years of experience in EHS. He has held vice president roles at various global corporations with responsibility for deploying world-class EHS practices using principles of operational excellence. He also held industrial hygiene positions with Monsanto and OSHA, and academic posts with Southern Illinois University and University of Central Missouri. Wolfsberger is a member of the ANSI/ASSP Z10 Committee as well as the ANSI/ASSP Z244.1 Committee (control of hazardous energy) and B11 Committee (machine guarding). He is a professional member of ASSP’s Western Carolina Chapter.

Greg Zigulis, President, Sixth Sense Safety Solutions

Greg Zigulis, CSP, CIH, CHSP, has more than 38 years of experience developing and implementing safety, industrial hygiene and environmental programs for organizations across different industries. He is a member of ASSP’s Standards Development Committee, the ANSI/ ASSP Z10 Committee (occupational health and safety management systems) and the U.S. TAG to ANSI for ISO TC 283, which publishes ISO 45001. Zigulis is also a member of ASSP’s Advisory Group, a professional member of the Greater Detroit Chapter and a member of the Consultants Practice Specialty, as well as a licensed machinery safety specialist under the B11 standards. He authored the chapter in the third edition of the “Safety Professional’s Handbook” on the ANSI/ASSP Z10 standard as well as several articles published in Professional Safety.
