The A3/ASSPF Robotics Educator Safety Awareness Certificate Program teaches robotics educators essential safety concepts to help them identify risks, promote safe practices, and apply safety standards in educational settings. The introductory course covers industrial robotics safety basics, relevant standards like ANSI/A3 R15.06 (ISO 10218) and ANSI/A3 R15.08, and risk assessment methods. Participants learn how to recognize and address hazards in classrooms, labs, and workplace environments.
As an introductory course, it is not intended to create experts in robot safety or risk assessment. Instead, it equips learners with the language, awareness, and resources needed to establish a foundation and continue developing their knowledge of safety practices and standards.
The curriculum aligns with internationally recognized safety frameworks and provides a baseline introduction to risk management. Participants will examine general robot types and key components, explore how they connect to guiding safety standards, and practice recognizing potential hazards and mitigation strategies. The course also establishes the groundwork for understanding the risk assessment process, preparing learners for more advanced exploration in Course 2.
